I’ve just received my first FairyLoot box! FairyLoot is a monthly book subscription box that focuses on Young Adult fantasy literature. The theme for April’s book box was ‘Whimsical Journeys’.
“Fairytales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
Curious to find out what was inside this box?
Reusable Narnia Coffee Mug
The first thing I saw when I opened the box, was this colorful reusable mug designed by Ink and Wonder. This mug is a FairyLoot exclusive and it features a map of C.S. Lewis’ Narnia. The colors pop and the illustrations are stunning. I can’t wait to use this!
Included in the box was this FairyLoot exclusive tote bag designed by Stella’s Bookish Art. The bag features a quote from The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.
“I’m going on an Adventure!”
A small soy candle made by Flick the Wick. This candle is also a FairyLoot exclusive. It’s called ‘Leif’s Ship’ and it’s themed around the featured book (see below). It smells like spruce, fir and sandalwood and it has a gorgeous dark blue color.
Enamel Pin and Notepad
The FairyLoot exclusive enamel pin was designed by Taratjah and is inspired by Blackjack from Percy Jackson by Rick Riordian. I haven’t read this book, but I love the pin.
The FairyLoot exclusive Carpe Diem notepad is designed by Little Inkling Designs. It features a quote from The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. It reminds me of Halloween.
A FairyLoot exclusive Magical Beasts luggage tag! This is designed by Lovely Owls Books and (of course) inspired by Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling. I absolutely adore this and this might be my favorite item in this box!
This FairyLoot exclusive art print is designed by FictionTea Designs and it features a sign post with some of my favorite fictional places. For Hogwarts, go right!
The book that was in this box is called Beyond a Darkened Shore by Jessica Leake. It is a stand-alone book filled with Celtic and Norse mythology. The cover has gold foil on it. The book came with a signed bookplate, sticker and letter.
“The ancient land of Éirinn is mired in war. Ciara, Princess of Mide, has never known a time when Éirinn’s kingdoms were not battling for power, or Northmen were not plundering their shores.
The people of Mide have thankfully always been safe because of Ciara’s unearthly ability to control her enemies’ minds and actions. But lately, a mysterious crow has been appearing to Ciara, whispering warnings of an even darker threat. Although her clansmen dismiss her visions as pagan nonsense, Ciara fears this coming evil will destroy not just Éirinn, but the entire world.
Then the crow leads Ciara to Leif, a young Northman leader. Leif should be Ciara’s enemy, but when Ciara discovers that he, too, shares her prophetic visions, she knows he’s something more. Leif is mounting an impressive army, and with Ciara’s strength in battle the two might have a chance to save their world.
With evil rising around them, they’ll do what it takes to defend the land they love…even if it means making the greatest sacrifice of all.”
This box had so many beautiful items in it.. I’m so happy with all my new bookish goodies!
