Mid-Year Freakout Blog Tag

I was tagged by the lovely Kayleigh from My Endless Shelf to do the Mid-Year Freakout Blog Tag.

I can’t believe it’s July already.. 2018 is going by so fast. In January of this year I started my blog and in the past 6 months I have met some amazing bloggers and read a lot of great books.

Let’s get started with this tag!

1. The best book you’ve read this year?
I’ve read a lot of amazing books this year and it’s hard to choose just one.. My favorite thriller of this year was The Fire Witness by Lars Kepler, my favorite fantasy novel was Song of Blood & Stone by L. Penelope and my favorite young adult novel was Whisper by Lynette Noni.

2. The best sequel you’ve read this year?
Hangman by Daniel Cole. I really enjoyed his debut thriller Ragdoll and Hangman was just as addictive as the first book.

3. New releases you haven’t read yet but want to.
Grace & Fury by Tracy Banghart, I Do Not Trust You by Laura J. Burns and Legendary by Stephanie Garber. And so much more.. I could write an entire blog post series dedicated to my out-of-control-TBR.

4. Most anticipated releases for the second half of the year.
I can’t wait to read Down to the Woods, the 8th novel in the Helen Grace series by M.J. Arlidge.

5. Biggest disappointment.
Beast: A Tale of Love and Revenge. I had such high expectations of this book, Beauty and the Beast being one of my favorite fairy tales. I just didn’t enjoy reading it. I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters, the story was too slow-paced for my liking and.. Ugh. It just wasn’t a book for me.

6. Biggest surprise.
Vicious Rumer by Joshua Winning. I’ve never read anything by Joshua Winning before picking up this e-ARC of Vicious Rumer. His writing style was completely new to me and I was blown away by it. I really enjoyed this book!

7. Favourite new to you, or debut, author.
I requested an ARC of Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik for an online book club at Hebban.nl and I was so excited when I was accepted! I loved this book and it’s the first book I’ve read of Naomi Novik. Also it was the first fantasy novel I’ve read in 2018.

8. Newest fictional crush.
Julian from Caraval.. I think he is really fascinating.

9.Newest favourite character.
Currently I’m reading Children of Blood and Bone and I’m really liking Zélie. She is fierce and she fights for her beliefs. Also she is realistic and she has her flaws. I like that in a character.

10. Book that made you cry?
Lost for Words by Stephanie Butland. I didn’t actually cry while reading this book, but it’s the most heart-breaking book I’ve read this year.

11. Book that made you happy?
A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro. I loved reading this Sherlock adaptation. It’s fresh and unique with lovely characters.

12. Favourite book to film adaption?
I don’t know if this counts, but I’m really excited for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling.

13. Favourite post you have done this year?
I love writing book reviews and I put a lot of time and love in all the posts I write. But I really enjoyed writing my 5 Things We Can Learn from Alice in Wonderland post.

14. Most beautiful book you have bought this year?
Although this isn’t really a book, I love my new Kobo e-reader. Although I will always adore physical books, this e-reader has made my reading-life so much easier.

15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
I have so many books on my TBR.. Here is a list of the e-ARC’s that are on my shelf.
I also really want to read The Rabbit Hunter by Lars Kepler, the 6th book in the Joona Linna series. And I want to continue with the Department Q series by Jussi Adler-Olsen.

This was a really fun tag to do and I’m tagging;
