Today I’m participating in the Book Beginnings meme hosted by Rose City Reader. Book Beginnings is a weekly tag that asks you to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are currently reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
What is the first line of the book I am currently reading?
Currently I’m reading Echoes by Alice Reeds.
“They wake on a deserted island. Fiona and Miles, high school enemies now stranded together. No memory of how they got there. No plan to follow, no hope to hold on to.
Each step forward reveals the mystery behind the forces that brought them here. And soon, the most chilling discovery: something else is on the island with them.
Something that won’t let them leave alive.”
“We’re all going to die.
That was the first thought that shot through my mind. Maybe it’s just a dream was my second, but then the plane dipped down again, shaking and rattling.”
I’m reading Echoes for a blogtour and currently I’m on page 159 of 276.
The first line of Echoes immediately caught my attention. It sounds dramatic, mysterious and scary. I’m halfway through the book and the story is still all of that. So far I really enjoy reading Echoes. I just have no idea how I’m going to write a spoiler free review about this book. So much is happening and it just keeps getting more mysterious and exciting.
What are your thoughts about Echoes first line?
