The BookTube-A-Thon is a week-long readathon hosted by Ariel Bissett. She describes it as an opportunity for the bookish community to come together, to celebrate reading by creating bookish content and reading lots of books!
This year the BookTube-A-Thon took place from July 30th to August 5th. I planned on reading 7 books in 7 days. You can see what books were on my TBR in this post.
The BookTube-A-Thon Reading Challenges
1 – Let a coin toss decide your first read.
2 – Read a book about something you want to do.
3 – Read and watch a book to movie adaptation.
4 – Read a book with green on the cover.
5 – Read a book while wearing the same hat the whole time.
6 – Read a book with a beautiful spine.
7 – Read seven books.
Curious to know how many of the challenges I completed?
On the first day of the BookTube-A-Thon I started reading Leah on the Off Beat by Becky Albertalli. I tossed a coin to decide my first read, which you can see in my Instagram stories. On the first day I managed to read 310 pages!
I finished reading Leah on the Off Beat. I only had 29 pages left. I completed my first challenge!
After finishing my first book for this readathon, I started with Sadie by Courtney Summers. This is the book I decided to read for the second challenge, because this story is built around a podcast and I think podcasts are fascinating. I have an e-ARC of Sadie and I got to 55% (116 pages according to my e-reader).
Sadie is such a heart-breaking page-turner and I had no problems with finishing it (93 pages according to my e-reader). With Sadie, I completed my second challenge.
For my book to movie adaptation, I choose Beauty and the Beast. I’ve had a beautiful version of this book illustrated by Minalima on my shelf for years and now I finally got to read it! On this day I got to read 143 pages.
In the morning I finished reading the last 59 pages of Beauty and the Beast. Third challenge completed!
I started reading Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz for the fourth challenge (there is a bit of grass on the cover!). I read 146 pages.
I adore Aristotle and Dante and I don’t know why I waited so long to read this book.. I finished the remaining 213 pages on day 5 of the readathon and completed the forth challenge.
In the evening I decided to read my fifth book, Incendio by Tess Gerritsen has only 95 pages and I finished reading it in about 4 hours with a coffee break. And of course I was wearing a hat while reading Incendio!
Day 6 & 7
I was doing do good. I was keeping up with my schedule and I checked off 5 challenges. But on Saturday, day 6, I started reading A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews and I wasn’t in the mood for this book.. Don’t get me wrong, I think I’ll like it when I pick it up again. I read 84 pages and I decided to put it down for a while.
On Sunday I picked up the last book on my BookTube-A-Thon TBR; Light Years by Kass Morgan. I read a couple of chapters, but I didn’t finish this book yet.
