BookTube-A-Thon 2018 TBR

I’m going to participate in my first ever readathon! I’m really excited to play along in the BookTube-A-Thon, which is taking place from July 30th to August 5th.

What is the BookTube-A-Thon?

The BookTube-A-Thon is a week-long readathon hosted by Ariel Bissett. She describes it as an opportunity for the bookish community to come together, to celebrate reading by creating bookish content and reading lots of books!

I think a lot of participants are active on BookTube, which I am not.. So, I’ll be tracking my progress on Twitter, Instagram and on my blog.

The BookTube-A-Thon Reading Challenges

1 – Let a coin toss decide your first read.
2 – Read a book about something you want to do.
3 – Read and watch a book to movie adaptation.
4 – Read a book with green on the cover.
5 – Read a book while wearing the same hat the whole time.
6 – Read a book with a beautiful spine.
7 – Read seven books.

Want to know what is on my TBR?

1 – Let a coin toss decide your first read

I tossed a coin (you can watch this in my Instagram Stories) to decide if I’m going to start my readathon with Light Years or Leah on the Off Beat. Leah was heads, Light Years  was tails.

For this challenge I’ll be reading Leah on the Off Beat by Becky Albertalli!

2 – Read a book about something you want to do

I always find podcasts fascinating. I love the variety of podcasts available and I have thought about starting my own podcast for a while. In Sadie by Courtney Summers, West McCray, a radio personality, starts his own podcast. So for this reading challenge, I’ll be reading my e-ARC of Sadie.

3 – Read and watch a book to movie adaptation

I thought about this challenge far too long. I didn’t know what I wanted to read, because I mostly want to read books that I have on my shelves already (trying to tackle that TBR mountain pile). And then I realised I still have an unread version of The Beauty and the Beast by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve illustrated by Minalima! I’m extremely excited to finally pick this book up! The illustrations are gorgeous and Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite fairy tales!

Also, I still haven’t watched the new Beauty and the Beast movie.. Do I need even more excuses to read and watch this?

4 – Read a book with green on the cover

I decided to go with Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz. There is green grass on the cover and this book has been on my TBR for a long time.

5 – Read a book while wearing the same hat the whole time.

I found Incendio by Tess Gerritsen at the library, a short thriller, and I thought this would be perfect to read for this readathon. I’ll be wearing a hat reading all 95 pages of this book!

6 – Read a book with a beautiful spine.

For this reading challenge I choose A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews. The cover is beautiful and the spine is lovely.

7 – Read 7 books.

The last book on my BookTube-A-Thon TBR is my ARC of Light Years by Kass Morgan.

I’m not sure how I’m going to read 7 books (1986 pages! ) in 7 days, but I’ll give it a try and I’ll keep you updated on my progress!

Are you going to participate in the BookTube-A-Thon?

  1. This sounds fun. Tess Gerritsen is one of my favourite thriller writers. I think you will enjoy your hat read. My Co-blogger Megan is a huge Courtney Summers fan and is reading one of her books now. From what she has told me it sounds like Sadie. (She is going to do a review when she’s finished)

  2. I like the idea of this book-a-thon! I am not on youtube either, but it can easily be done through Insta and Twitter. Thanks for sharing!
